You Are His Workmanship
This morning I was blessed when thinking of one of America’s finest homebuilders and great friend Brent Stoltzfus. Besides building great homes and operating a large company with virtually zero turnover, Brent has been a source of wisdom to me and so many others. Here is the thought that blessed me.
As Christians who happen to build homes for a living we live in a very diverse industry with a crazy amount of outside influences, and if we aren’t careful, we can lose track of our identity. In times like that my friend Brent would probably remind you and I that “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
Brent’s company, EG Stoltzfus, has built eight Homes for Hope over the years and donated an amazing amount of company profits towards HOPE International’s mission of helping those living in extreme poverty to break the chains that poverty places on them both physically and spiritually. He has done the same locally through every home he builds and every employee and trade partner he engages, as well as; a few guys like me.
As a home builder you make a tremendous impact for Christ locally as well as globally through Homes for Hope when you remember and remind others that “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works”. This world and our industry is a loud place to live in, so I encourage you to remind yourself regularly who you are now in Christ. Did you know that we are instructed in the Bible to do likewise? “Be not conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
“When you squeeze an orange, orange juice comes out, so when you squeeze a Christian, Christ should come out.” Pastor Dan Mohler
Have a great day out there building!
